Based on the prevalence of H1N1 last fall in Charlottesville, the widespread distribution of a vaccination, and the new public awareness of flu season health precautions, do you think that H1N1 will be as large pandemic at UVA this fall?

Useful Web Sites

Here are the most useful sites that I found, regarding H1N1, when I evaluated the internet

  1. http://www.healthsystem.virginia.edu
  2. http://www.mayoclinic.com/
  3. http://www.webmd.com/
  4. http://www.medhelp.org/
  5. http://www.health.harvard.edu/

Each website is unique in their own way, but some are more helpful than others. First, the Virginia Health Systems Site is the most helpful because it not only addresses H1N1, but it also specifically addresses the Charlottesville area. Many of the articles found on the site dealt with student infection, local prevention methods, and places in town to get diagnosed and treated. Next, were the .com sites. These sites are more generic, yet still provided factual information on H1N1. These facts included prevention methods, symptoms, and suggestions on what to do once you are contaminated. The 4th site was a .org site. The unique aspect of this site was that it was set up in blog form. The people posting on this site had first hand experience with H1N1, giving a researcher a different perspective on the flu rather than just facts. The last site was another .edu site. This site, provided by Harvard University Medical School is very similar to UVA's except it was less prevalent for the topics I was searching because it was not based out of Charlottesville.
